Cold Drawn

Our process includes abrasive blasting (shot blast), cold drawing, straightening and cutting to length. It is mainly used for applications where a better surface quality than hot rolled is required. The drawing process increases the hardness of the material, as well as yield & tensile strength properties.

This product is ideal for applications where the finished product endures increased mechanical forces. Some common applications are shafts, rollers, stabilizer bars, shock absorbers, fasteners etc.

The diameter range of cold drawn bars is from ½ ” to 2 5/8″ in carbon steels. All our products are manufactured according to ASTM A108 standard

Description

The 1018 cold drawn bar is one of the most common types of cold finished steel bar, since it is a versatile steel grade that can be used in hundreds of different applications. 1018 CD steel is a low carbon steel and medium manganese content that is an ideal choice for applications that do not need the strength of the highest carbon steel grades, including carbureted components. The 1018 steel bar has excellent weldability properties, is good for cold forming/bending applications and has good machinability as well as surface hardening properties.

Application

We supply 1018 cold finished steel bars to a variety of industries such as automotive, heavy machinery, material handling, electric motors and many more. Some common components can be bushings, stabilizer bars, suspensions, fasteners, connecting rods, bolts, spacers, gears, among others.

Description

Grade 1045 is characterized by good weldability, good machinability and high strength and impact properties, whether in hot rolling or cold finishing conditions.

1045 is widely used by all sectors of the industry for applications that require more hardness and wear resistance than soft, low carbon steels.

Application

Some components of grade 1045 include shafts, pistons, heavy duty machinery parts, pump shafts (psq), pinions, rollers, hydraulic cylinders, axles, among others.

Description

Steel grade 12L14 is a free machining steel which is re-sulfurizsed and re-fosforized. This is a highly used grade in a variety of repetitive machining operations because of its chemical composition from added lead element it has excellent machinability. The lead also reduces strength compared to other cold drawn grades.
It is also suitable for hardening by heat treatment and electroplating.

Aplicaciones

Typical components manufactured from 12L14 are shaft couplings, concrete anchors, brake hose ends, pulleys, wheel nuts and inserts, gear box components, garbage bin axles, padlock shackles, hydraulic fittings, among others.

Description

Grade 1215 cold drawn steel is ideal for components that require high volume machining and bright finishes. At Kold Roll we draw various diameters of 1215 to meet specialized project demands. We supply 1215 cold drawn to various industries such as automotive, automation, HVAC systems, electric motors, among others. It is described in the industry as a free machining steel.

Application

Some components of grade 1215 include shafts, fasteners, anchors, couplings, among others. This grade is also widely used for automatic operations of screw manufacturing. It is an alternative that does not contain lead when compared to grade 12L14.
